Regulation
GENERAL RULES
- The 7th Karangturi International Choir Competition is only open to amateur choirs.
- All choirs are eligible to compete in a maximum of three competition categories.
- A personal identity must be provided by each singer (Student’s card or ID card or passport).
- If there is any doubt about the singer’s age, they will be checked using personal evidence.
- The copyright of the song is the responsibility of the choir. The committee is not responsible for any song’s copyright that will be performed
- All songs must be approved by the Artistic Committee. The ones that are not approved must be replaced.
- Participants collect 7 copies/bundles of song score to be sung and send them via post to the address of the Committee Secretariat.
- The committee will only provide an accoustic piano.
- Available stage size is 6,5 x 12 meters.
- Any additional musical instruments from participants must be acoustic (non-electric).
- The use of any kind of playback or MIDI is strictly prohibited.
- Participants are not allowed to repeat the performance, unless asked by the jury.
- The order of appearance of the participants will be drawn by the committee.
- The jury’s decision is final and cannot be contested.
- The participants give permission to The Committee to publish the photos and videos of the competition.

REPERTOIRE
Children and Teenager Category
Each choir must prepare 3 songs according to the following requirements:
- One composition/arrangement by a composer of the choir’s country.
- One composition/arrangement by a composer not of the choir’s country.
- One free choice.
- The three songs, not Folklore songs.
- At least 1 song is sung in A Capella.
Equal Voices , Mixed Youth, Mixed and Musica Sacra Category
Each choir must prepare 3 songs according to the following requirements:
- One composition song written before 1900.
- One composition song written in or after 1900.
- One free choice.
- The three songs, not Folklore songs.
- At least 2 songs are sung in A Capella.
Music Pop/ jazz and Folklore Category
Each choir must prepare 2 songs of their choice.
DURATION OF THE PERFOMANCE
- Children, Teenager, Equal Voices, Mixed Youth, Mixed and Musica Sacra categories: Maximum 12 minutes (pure singing time).
- Pop/Jazz and Folklore Music Category: Maximum 8 Minutes (pure singing time).
ADJUDICATION AND EVALUATION
- The choirs will be assessed by the jury on the following criteria :
- Intonation
- Vocal Quality
- Fidelity to Score
- Overall Artistic Impression
- The assessment is based on the numeric system:

- Total Scoring System (7 Jury):

The score of Jury 2 (lowest score) and Jury 6 (highest score) are disregarded. The Total Score consists of the average of the other 5 Jury (total score divided by 5). In this case, the choir will be awarded a Gold Medal with a total of 82.48 points.
- Champion of category is the choir with the highest final score in each category and must be in Gold range.
- Champion will receive a trophy, medal and certificate.
- Each participant will receive medals and certificate.
GRAND PRIX
Grand Prix finalists will be selected based on :
Category Champions and Jury’s selection of choirs
Choirs selected for the Grand Prix Competition are required to sing two new song pieces.The total duration of performed repertoire must be Maximum 8 minutes of pure singing time.
The choir with the highest rank among the panel will be awarded Grand Prix Champion and a cash prize of USD $2,500.
PINALTY
1. Disqualification
- The number of singers are less than minimum limit
- The singer sings for more than one choir in one category.
- The singer broke the age limit.
- The choir doesn’t present on the stage after 3 calls.
2. Minus points
The choir will get 5 minus points from the total of average score if it performs more than the required time limit.
3. Administration
- Late submission for registration form, include original scores will get a cash fine of IDR 500,000.
- If unwilling to pay the fine up to a specified time, the choir will be disqualified.
